Pitt Information Technology is responding to a new email phishing scam that claims to offer a job to recipients. Recent examples of this scam include an offer for employment at the U.S. Open Golf Tournament or as a personal assistant. Such scams attempt to obtain sensitive personal data, such as bank account information.
On July 20-24, the Institute for Cyber Law, Policy, and Security (Pitt Cyber), Pitt IT, and Robert Morris University hosted the fourth annual Air Force Association CyberCamp. But CyberCamp looked a little different this year—it was all virtual.
In December 2019, Pitt Information Technology migrated the University’s network to a new domain name system (DNS). This change increased redundancy and resiliency, as part of Pitt IT’s ongoing efforts to improve effectiveness and efficiencies. On December 7, 2020, the University will complete the migration. After this date, servers with manually configured, outdated DNS addresses will no longer function.
The Student Information System (PeopleSoft) will be unavailable during an extended maintenance period from 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, through 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2.
The system will be unavailable from 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, to 8 a.m. on Friday, July 31.
The message appears to come from a LastPass representative and asks the reader to update their “master” password.
Vendor maintenance will be performed on the Student Information System (PeopleSoft and PeopleSoft Mobile) beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. This work is expected to last until 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 26.
