Migration of the University’s Network to a New DNS Scheduled for Dec. 7

Friday, July 31, 2020 - 12:47

In December 2019, Pitt Information Technology migrated the University’s network to a new domain name system (DNS). This change increased redundancy and resiliency, as part of Pitt IT’s ongoing efforts to improve effectiveness and efficiencies. On December 7, 2020, the University will complete the migration. After this date, servers with manually configured, outdated DNS addresses will no longer function.

For any devices currently configured to use the University’s DHCP service, no action is required.

For those with devices that have manually configured DNS, the existing servers will continue to function until December 7, 2020. However, users and administrators are encouraged to begin utilizing the new Anycast addresses as soon as possible.
