Adobe Products for Students and Personal Faculty*/Staff Use

Adobe products for personal use are available for purchase directly through Adobe.

* Faculty can download a free version of Creative Cloud on their personal computers from pitt.onthehub.com. This free version cannot be installed on University-owned equipment.

Adobe Products for Department Use

Some software titles are available at no cost to full-time and part-time University faculty through software.pitt.edu. Additional titles, licensed per person, are available for purchase by departments for installation on University-owned computers.

Getting started with Creative Cloud

To install Acrobat or Creative Cloud on a user’s dedicated machine, please provide the user's primary University Computing Account (@pitt.edu) when the software is purchased in the Software Store on PantherExpress.  Then, choose an operating system and follow the installation instructions below. For those with last year’s version of Adobe Creative Cloud installed, you do not need to uninstall this version.

Windows

  1. Log in to the Software Download Service at My Pitt.
  2. Click the Software Download Service Login link.
  3. In the “Enter Search term” field type Creative Cloud Enterprise, then click Search All.

  4. Choose the Windows version.
  5. Go to Adobe.com and follow the instructions below.
  6. Click SIGN IN at the top right-hand corner.

  7. An Adobe ID Sign in page will open. Select Sign in with an Enterprise ID.

  8. At the Enterprise ID Sign in page, enter your username with @pitt.edu and password, then click Sign In.
    Note: Email aliases that you have set up will not work.

  9. If you get a Window similar to this, choose Enterprise ID >.

  10. Enter your University Computing Account username and password, then click Submit.

    Note: The login use Pitt Passport single sign-on for multifactor authentication.
  11. Click Desktop Apps.

  12. Locate the Creative Cloud icon and click Download.

  13. From the drop-down menu, select Beginner or Experienced based on your comfort level with Creative Cloud.

  14. Click Sign in.

  15. Sign in again with your University Computing Account username and password.
  16. A Run or Save notification should appear. Select Run.

    Note: You may see a message window that asks if you to allow the Creative Cloud Set-Up to run. Select Yes.

  17. The installation will run. Once it is complete, log in using to Creative Cloud using steps 7-10.
  18. Make sure the apps button on the top of the page is selected. You can now update or install any Adobe applications that are displayed. Apps that are listed here can be updated to the latest version.

Mac

  1. Log in to the Software Download Service at My Pitt.

  5. Go to Adobe.com and follow the instructions below.

  15. Sign in again with your University Computing Account username and password.
  16. A notification should appear saying Creative Cloud is downloading now.

  17. Click on the CreativeCloudInstaller.dmg.
  18. Click on Creative Cloud Installer.

  19. You will get a notification asking you if you want to open the Creative Cloud Installer. Click Open.

  20. The installation will run. Once it is complete, log in using using steps 7-10.

To install the software on a shared machine or in a lab environment, please provide the username “labinstall” when the software is purchased in the Software Store on PantherExpress and install the software from the software download site (or purchase the software on either a USB key or a CD for Acrobat).

  1. Go to http://edex.adobe.com and click the sign-in button in the top menu.
  2. Enter your Pitt email address and click Sign in.
  3. Select Enterprise ID for account type.
  4. Enter your Pitt username and password, then login.
  5. At the welcome screen, begin exploring the site.
