How to Get Software
- Individual faculty or staff members may purchase some software titles for personal use either at home or at the University. Faculty and staff may ONLY purchase software at the Walk-In Support Desk at the University Store on Fifth if it is for PERSONAL HOME USE.
- Departments can purchase software for professional use on University computers; some software license agreements also permit home use.
Note: This type of purchase must be done through PantherExpress available at My Pitt (my.pitt.edu).
Software Available at No Cost
Students can download a number of software titles at no cost including Microsoft Office, Windows, and other titles from the Software Download Service via My Pitt (my.pitt.edu).
Faculty, staff, and departments can software at no cost in a number of ways. You can download software from the Software Download Service and the SecureU SharePoint site.

You can purchase software in person at:

A current Pitt ID is required. You can pay by cash, check, Mastercard, Visa, and Panther Funds. Sales tax will be added to the price.

Departmental Software Purchases
Departmental software purchases are made through PantherExpress. Pitt IT will ship the software to your location. You may also elect to pickup the software. If you chose to pickup your order, Pitt IT will contact you when the order is ready. Orders requested for pickup at the University Store on Fifth will typically be available within two business days.
