Installing the InCommon and UserTrust Certificates (Mac)

Overview

If you plan to use PittNet Wi-Fi, you will need to install an InCommon certificate and a UserTrust certificate. If you connect to a wired network port in a residence hall or public area (like a classroom or conference room), you will also need to install them. These instructions explain how to install the certificates manually on your Mac. Once the certificates are installed, you will then need to configure your operating system using a separate help sheet.

PittNet Wired: Configuring Windows 8 for Wired Publicly Accessible Network Ports

Overview

The 802.1x protocol is used for wired access to the University's network (PittNet) through publicly accessible network ports. These connections may be located in classrooms, conference rooms, or other public areas. You must have administrative rights to your computer to complete these steps.

Customizing Windows 10 Privacy Settings

Windows 10 presents privacy options in a different way than previous versions of the Windows operating systems. You can customize your privacy settings at any time. To do so, use the Windows 10 search bar to search for Settings and click the Settings app. Next, click the Privacy icon.

PittNet Wi-Fi: Connecting your Apple TV

Overview

The following instructions can be used to configure your Apple TV to connect to PittNet Wi-Fi. At this time wired 802.1x connections to PittNet are not supported by the Apple TV. Certain steps require you to switch between your Apple TV and Mac computer, so pay attention to which is required.
