University Data Warehouse

The University Data Warehouse (UDW) is the central authoritative data source for the University. It provides support for reporting, ad hoc data queries, and analytics. The University Data Warehouse is an Oracle-based database that is comprised of data originating in several University systems, including PeopleSoft, PRISM, and Courseweb. The data is extracted from those systems, optimized for speed and ease of use, and placed into data marts. A data mart is a subset of the University Data Warehouse, and is oriented toward a particular type of data or function.

Email: Access Legacy Webmail (IMAP) with a client (like Thunderbird)

Most students, faculty, and staff use My Pitt Email. Some faculty and staff still use legacy Webmail (IMAP). Your IMAP email can be accessed by programs called email clients that run on your computer. These clients provide a richer set of features than Webmail. CSSD recommends and supports the use of Microsoft Outlook and Thunderbird as clients.

If you require assistance in determining which email client is right for you, contact the Technology Help Desk at 412-624-HELP [4357].
