Vulnerabilities in Google Chrome Web Browser Require Update

Wednesday, September 6, 2017 - 16:38

Google has released an updated version of its Chrome web browser to address several recently discovered security vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities could be exploited if a Google Chrome user visits a specially crafted web page, or if they are redirected to a specially crafted web page from another website or from an email scam.

Users of Google Chrome should ensure they are using the latest version of the Chrome browser (Version 61.0.3163.79). Chrome normally updates in the background when you close and reopen your browser. However, Computing Services and Systems Development recommends you manually check for updates on your computer:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More.

  1. Click Update Google Chrome. If you do not see this button, you are on the latest version.
  2. Click Relaunch.

You can view more details about updating Chrome, including how to update iOS and Android versions, on Google’s website.
