SHA Certificate Upgrade Scheduled for April 2

Thursday, March 17, 2016 - 14:50

During the standard downtime period on April 2, 2016, we will upgrade the digital certificates that are used for secure LDAP authentication from SHA-1 certificates to SHA-2 certificates.

Based on the results of our testing to date, the certificate upgrade should be seamless. However, it is possible older systems may be affected if they do not support SHA-2 certificates. For example, older versions of the suite of security programs known as OpenSSH may not be compatible with SHA-2 certificates.

If your departmental application is using the University’s enterprise authentication and you would like assistance testing the new SHA-2 certificates, please contact the Technology Help Desk at 412-624-HELP [4357].
