Effective Dec. 1, 2018, Kaspersky Lab antivirus products will no longer pass PittNet VPN’s Health Check requirement.
This change is based on low utilization of Kaspersky Lab antivirus software among PittNet VPN users, combined with the recent law banning the use of Kaspersky Lab products from use within the U.S. government.
As an alternative, the University provides Antivirus (Symantec Endpoint Protection) at no cost to all students, faculty, and staff through the Software Download Service at software.pitt.edu. A complete list of antivirus products compatible with the PittNet VPN Health Check is available on the Information Technology website.
