Apple Releases Security Update for macOS High Sierra

Apple has released a security update to address a vulnerability in macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 An attacker who successfully exploits this vulnerability could take control of an affected system.

CSSD recommends that users immediately install Security Update 2017-001 to remediate this vulnerability. Additional details, as well as instructions for downloading and installing the update, are available on Apple’s website.

In addition to installing the Apple update, CSSD also recommends that all users install Symantec Endpoint Protection software and use the LiveUpdate feature to get the latest virus definitions. As a complement to Symantec Endpoint Protection, CSSD offers Malwarebytes Premium for individuals and departments at no cost. Students, faculty, and staff can download Malwarebytes and Symantec Endpoint Protection at no cost through the Software Download Service at My Pitt. Departments can submit a help request to obtain Malwarebytes for multiple machines.
