BioRender Discount Now Available to Pitt Faculty/Staff; Free to Students

Monday, August 23, 2021 - 16:54

Pitt Information Technology and Pitt Research have secured a BioRender enterprise license for the University. This means that BioRender Premium is now available to faculty and staff for $100 per user, per year—a significant savings over individual or lab licenses—and it is also available at no cost to students.

BioRender combines a library of over 40,000 life science icons and templates with intuitive drag-and-drop functionality, allowing users to create publication-quality figures in minutes with no drawing skills required.

Convert an Existing License or Add New Ones

Existing users will soon receive a separate email from BioRender containing information about how to opt-in to a new premium University account on BioRender using these instructions. Please be sure to opt-in right away using your original Pitt email address, rather than an email alias.

Credits for BioRender licenses previously purchased by departments via purchase orders will be managed by Software Distribution Services. Prorated refunds will also be issued for personal and P-Card purchases.

For those not currently licensed, departments can purchase BioRender licenses for faculty and staff from the Pitt IT Software Store in PantherExpress. Students can find instructions for obtaining a free license by searching for BioRender using the University’s Software Download Service.

Once a University license is in place, logging in through a portal provides access to the features of the premium service. Please visit Pitt IT’s BioRender webpage for more information or contact the 24/7 IT Help Desk for assistance at any time.
