Overview

The following instructions can be used to configure your Apple TV to connect to Wireless-PittNet. At this time wired connections to PittNet are not supported by the Apple TV.

PittNet(Wireless): Configuring Wi-Fi Devices

Overview

Computing Services and Systems Development supports general connectivity for wi-fi devices. You should be able to connect successfully to Wireless PittNet or WIRELESS-PITTNET-FAST by configuring your wi-fi device according to the specifications below.

PittNet(Wireless): Guest Wireless Access Overview

Overview

Guests visiting the University of Pittsburgh can request short-term wireless access for academic- or business-related purposes. All Guests must have a University faculty or staff member approve their requests and act as their Host. Guests can submit their own requests, or a Host can submit and approve a request on behalf of a Guest.

PittNet (Wireless): Connecting to Wireless PittNet with Mac OS X 10.8 & 10.9

Overview

The University of Pittsburgh's Wireless PittNet service provides wireless network access to all University of Pittsburgh students, faculty, and staff.

Note: You must have installed the InCommon certificates before completing the instructions below. Refer to the help sheet titled Installing the InCommon and UserTrust Certificates (Mac) for details.

Network Maintenance to Affect BST, Petersen on Oct. 15

Scheduled maintenance will affect wired and wireless network service and telecommunications service in Biomedical Science Tower and Petersen Events Center during the standard downtime period on October 15. Network and voice service will be unavailable from 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 until 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 16 while work is completed.

Although the maintenance is scheduled to end at 3:00 a.m., network service will be restored earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule. This maintenance is necessary to enhance the stability and reliability of the network.

To connect your Mac to Wireless PittNet, you need:

  • Mac OS X v10.8 or higher

PittNet(Wireless): Getting the Best Wireless Experience

Introduction

The utilization of wireless service here at Pitt has increased dramatically during the past few years. In the month of September 2011, there were 1.2 million wireless sessions on all the University's campuses. By September 2013, that number had grown to 17.5 million sessions. In the month of February 2014, there were more than 19.3 million sessions.
