CourseWeb Extended Maintenance Scheduled for Dec. 26-27

CourseWeb, the University of Pittsburgh's implementation of Blackboard Learn, will be unavailable during an extended maintenance period from 10:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26 through 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27. Access to My Pitt Video will also be unavailable during this time.

Although a maintenance period has been scheduled during these times, the systems will be returned to service earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule. This maintenance is necessary to maintain the stability and reliability of the CourseWeb system.

My Pitt Video: Installing the Mac Recorder

Install and Setup

This document will walk you through the installation of the My Pitt Video (Panopto) Mac Recorder for Intel-based Macintosh PCs running at least OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.x.

Specifications

Mac OSX versions 10.8.x (Mountain Lion), 10.9.x (Mavericks), 10.10 (Yosemite), 10.11.x (El Capitan)

Intel-based - Dual core 2.0GHz / 2GB RAM (recommended) FireWire ports for digital cameras

Built-in iSight camera (optional)

USB ports for webcams or other recording devices Disable sleep mode, screen savers and scheduled tasks

CourseWeb, the University of Pittsburgh's implementation of Blackboard Learn, will be unavailable during a maintenance period from 1 AM through 8 PM on Thursday, May 4. Access to My Pitt Video will also be unavailable during this time.

Although a maintenance period has been scheduled during this time, the systems will be returned to service earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule. This maintenance is necessary to maintain the stability and reliability of the CourseWeb system.

My Pitt Video: Installing the Windows Recorder

Overview

This help sheet will walk you through installation of the My Pitt Video (Panopto) Recorder on a Windows-based computer. The software can be installed on any computer running Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10. The most important consideration is the amount of available hard drive space so that long sessions can be supported.

System Requirements

Windows 7/Windows 8.1/Windows 10 (32-bit and 64-bit)/Mac OSX 10.8 (and above)

Adaptive Streaming Capture Format Disabled: Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz/2GB RAM (recommended)

Overview

This help sheet will walk you through the basic configuration of the My Pitt Video (Panopto) Recorder on a Windows-based computer.

Basic Configuration

Run the My Pitt Video (Panopto) Recorder from Start--Programs--Panopto--Panopto Recorder. The first time you run the recorder, you will be required to log in.

1. Click the “Log in with Pitt-CourseWeb” button. The server name will be automatically entered for you.

Logging In

1.  Locate the My Pitt Video (Panopto) Recorder under Applications and run the app.

2.  If you are logged in automatically, skip to step 6. If you are not logged in, click “Login”.

Log in and click the Edit icon.

 

How to navigate/seek in the recording

1.  Clicking anywhere in the timeline will navigate or "seek" the video to that point

2.  Clicking on any of the events will "seek" the video to the point where that event starts

My Pitt Video: How to Upload Files from the Editor (Composer Mode)

How to Launch the Editor in Composer Mode:

Click "All Folders" and choose the folder where the session will be created. Click "Create" once you have selected your folder.

Choose the "Build a session" option.

My Pitt Video: Basic Editing

The My Pitt Video (Panopto) editor allows for web-based editing from any Mac or Windows computer. Silverlight is required for editing. The My Pitt Video (Panopto) Editor lets you create multiple versions, called "edits", of recorded sessions. The edit called Default is created automatically, and contains the entire recording. You can modify the Default or create additional edits without affecting the original session content.

Log in and click the Edit icon.
