This overview will help you quickly understand some of the key technology services for students. Once you have read this page, be sure to explore the Web site. Use the "View Information For" filtering tool in the right-hand column. Set your affiliation to "Student" and select your computer operating system. The Basics
Your University Computing Account will give you access to many computing resources at Pitt, including email and a huge number of software products available at little to no cost. Use the University's my.pitt.edu Web portal to view grades and class schedules, access email, pay tuition online, and even buy tickets for athletic events. Forget your password? Visit accounts.pitt.edu and you can reset it. If you are shopping for a new computer, check out the University's computer discounts program.
On the Go
Around-the-clock access to technology is critical for today's student. At Pitt, you can work almost anywhere on campus, off campus, or at home with tools like Wireless PittNet, my.pitt.edu, and Secure Remote Access. Seven campus computing labs are available, some 24 hours-a-day, across campus to complete course work or print assignments. Get instant information on lab hours and computer availability by phone with Lab Line at 412-383-LABS [5227]. You can also use the Self-Service Printing software to send your work to print stations in campus computing labs from anywhere. Check your e-mail at email kiosks across campus. Need to find contact information for someone at the University? Look up students, faculty, and staff with this site's Find People feature.
You Need to Know
Protect your computer and your identity. Our safe computing guidelines will teach you the best practices you need, such as choosing a strong password. They will also provide you with important tools, such as free downloadable anti-virus and anti-spyware software and automatic updates for your Windows computer. Everyone needs to be responsible when using computing resources. Understand your role. Review our computing guidelines to understand how you can ensure the University's computing environment remains a great resource for everyone. Using the University's network to illegally share copyrighted files is prohibited. Learn more about how you can prevent illegal file sharing. All students will want to subscribe to the Emergency Notification Service to receive text and voicemail alerts in the event of a campus emergency.

Events & Cool Programs
Our Student Computing Services team participates in many University orientation programs for undergraduate and graduate students to help you get started with technology services at Pitt. The annual <3 UR Computer Event provides plenty of serious learning and fun with a gaming event, carnival and education sessions.

CSSD's Technology Help Desk is available around the clock. Just call 412-624-HELP [4357] or submit your problem online. If you need additional support, the Help Desk will refer you to one of our onsite student support groups. Residential Consultants support students living on campus and our OSCAR service helps commuter students.
