Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 is available to University of Pittsburgh students only.  It is a highly adaptable and robust open-source operating system that offers functionality, flexibility and security. It has been adopted worldwide primarily as a server platform, but its use as a home and office desktop operating system has grown greatly in the last few years.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a supported version of Linux, ideal for power users and a wide range of high-performance technical client applications such as visualization, software development, and engineering design. Red Hat Enterprise Linux supports large-memory client systems with up to two CPUs.
