Acquire No Cost Software

A variety of software is available at no cost to University students, faculty and staff.

Students

No cost software including Microsoft Office and Windows is available for download from the Software Download Service at My Pitt.

Faculty, Staff and Departments

No cost software is distributed in a number of ways. You can download software from the Secure Your Data community at My Pitt (my.pitt.edu), and the Software Download Service at My Pitt. Please see the specific software description for details.

Purchase Software

You can purchase software in person at:

Software Distribution Services (SDS)
204 Bellefield Hall
Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday (closed University holidays).

A current Pitt ID is required. You can pay by cash, check, MasterCard or Visa, and Panther Funds. Sales tax will be added to the price.

Students, faculty and staff at regional campuses should contact the Technology Help Desk at 412 624-HELP [4357] concerning personal purchases.

Departments may purchase software licenses in person at either of the above locations (Pitt ID card required). Purchases can be made with a University purchase requisition faxed to 412-624-9138, mailed to our campus address, or brought to 204 Bellefield Hall or the University Store on Fifth. Purchases can also be made with a Pcard. Please note that not all departmental purchases made at the University Store on Fifth can be immediately filled. You may need to pick up the software you have ordered at 204 Bellefield Hall a day or two after you have purchased it.
