In 2016, the Pulse Secure client replaced the legacy Network Connect client as the recommended method for establishing secure remote connections to University resources. Pitt students, faculty, and staff already use Pulse Secure with the University’s Secure Remote Access service. Beginning September 3, 2017, UPMC employees will also be required to use the Pulse Secure client to access restricted University resources remotely (for example, to create a remote desktop connection or access servers and databases that reside behind network firewalls).
If you work for UPMC and connect to University of Pittsburgh resources remotely, please take the following steps:
- Check your computer to ensure you have the Pulse Secure client installed.
- If you do not have the Pulse Secure client installed, contact the UPMC Help Desk at 412-647-4357. Installation of the Pulse Secure client requires administrative rights to your computer and must therefore be performed by UPMC support staff.
