CSSD and FIS Consolidating as Pitt IT

Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer Mark Henderson is pleased to announce that the University’s Computing Services & Systems Development and Financial Information Systems groups are combining their talents and services to form one IT organization: Pitt Information Technology. This alignment is a significant first step in implementing a new IT Vision and Strategy to support the strategic goals of the University.

Migration of the University’s Network to a New DNS Scheduled for Dec. 21

On Saturday, Dec. 21, Pitt Information Technology will migrate the University’s network to a new domain name system (DNS). This change provides increased redundancy and higher resiliency, as part of Pitt IT’s ongoing efforts to position the University to be more effective and efficient.

Ricoh Print Server Maintenance Scheduled for Dec. 7; No Service Disruption Expected

The University’s Ricoh Print Server will be upgraded to Windows Server 2016 during the standard downtime period on Saturday, Dec. 7. Maintenance begins at 11 p.m. and will conclude by 7 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.

No service disruptions are anticipated; however, if you experience any issues following the maintenance period, please report them as soon as possible to the Technology Help Desk. 

A New Learning Management System is Coming in Summer 2020

An exciting change is coming to Pitt in the Summer of 2020, as we transition from CourseWeb (Blackboard Learn) to a better, more modern Learning Management System (Canvas).

This enhancement is a direct result of a unanimous recommendation following a comprehensive assessment conducted by a committee of faculty, staff, and students from nearly every department and across all campuses. What’s more, Canvas is the dominant LMS among our peer schools in the Association of American Universities.
