Secure Remote Access
Note: The Secure Remote Access service has a new Web address --- sremote.pitt.edu.
Use the Secure Remote Access service to connect to restricted University resources when you are off campus or using Wireless PittNet. Secure Remote Access encrypts traffic between your computer and the University's network. Once connected, you have access to hundreds of digital research journals, databases, and other services. Access can also be configured for specific needs, such as departmental file servers.
No client software program is required to use the Secure Remote Access service; a Web browser is all you need to connect! It is available in two modes: Web Connect and Network Connect.
Supported operating systems and Web browsers
- Windows XP with SP2 Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0, Firefox 2.0 with Sun JRE 1.5
- Windows Vista with Internet Explorer 7.0, Firefox 2.0 with Sun JRE 1.5
- Mac OS X (10.4 and 10.5) Safari 2.0 running Java 1.5
Note: If your operating system or web browser is NOT on the following list, but still works with Secure Remote Access, please be advised that it is not guaranteed to be compatible with future service upgrades.
