Directory Services

Enterprise Central Directory Service (CDS) manages University Computing Accounts and authorize access to various University-wide computing services, including the University's my.pitt.edu Web portal, Enterprise email services (IMAP and Exchange), the PeopleSoft Student Information System, the Secure Remote Access service, and online library journals. CDS provides single sign-on access. With one University Computing Account username and password, you can access most University-wide systems.

CSSD also contains an Enterprise Active Directory Service that works with CDS to provide authentication and authorization to Microsoft Windows-based systems. Departments that choose to participate with the Enterprise Active directory can leverage the University Computing Accounts maintained by CDS while maintaining the control of managing the permission to resources. This would extend the convenience of single sign-on to departmental applications and technology resources.
