Voice Mail System Replacement for 4-0001 and 4-0002 Users Scheduled for November 7, 2009

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

The University is replacing the 4-0001 and 4-0002 voice mail systems at the Pittsburgh campus on Saturday, November 7, 2009 with state-of-the-art technology that will enable some powerful new messaging features in the near future.

How does this affect you?

  • You will dial 4-0003 to access your voice mail starting at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 8.
  • You must set up your mailbox in advance. You can start as soon as November 2. The process is fast and easy:
  1. Dial 4-0003 from your University phone.
  2. Enter the default security code 00000.
  3. Follow the prompts to record your personal greeting, name, and password.
  • SPECIAL NOTE: Your old voice messages will not be transferred to the new system, but you will have access to your old voice messages for two weeks by dialing 4-0001 or 4-0002.

How different is the new system?

Not very different. You can listen to messages, fast forward, skip, reply, delete, and use many of the common voice mail functions using the same keypad commands that you do today. Some of the less frequently used commands have changed and there are some new features too. The improved voice prompts will easily guide you through the menus and features. You will also receive a printed brochure before November 7. If you have any questions about this change, please contact the Technology Help Desk at 412 624-HELP [4357].
