VMS Timesharing Service to be Retired on December 31, 2009
CSSD will retire the University's VMS Timesharing Service (vms.cis.pitt.edu) on December 31, 2009. Extremely low utilization, readily available alternatives, and the age of the hardware and software have led to the retirement of this service. CSSD is in the process of contacting current VMS users to notify them of the change and, as necessary, assist them in making a transition to software on other centrally-supported systems or software available for use on personal computers. VMS users will need to complete the transition to other systems prior to December 31, 2009.
