New Vulnerabilities Affect Apple Safari Web Browser on Apple and Microsoft Platforms. Immediate Action Required.
Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Apple Computer, Inc. has announced numerous critical new security vulnerabilities affecting the Apple Safari Web browser on both Apple Macintosh OS X and Microsoft Windows platforms.
CSSD recommends that all Safari users install the required security updates provided by Apple in Safari version 4.0 to correct these vulnerabilities. This update is available from Apple's Web site at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/.
If the latest version of Safari is not installed, an attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by enticing a user to access a maliciously crafted Web site or download maliciously crafted files. This may lead to unexpected program termination or arbitrary code execution.
Please contact the Technology Help Desk at 412 624-HELP [4357] if you have any questions or need assistance installing this update.
